CHELMSFORD ASSEMBLY
Chelmsford (pronounced “Chemsfurd“) is in Essex, about
thirty miles northeast of London. In the eighteenth century,
community assembly balls were often sponsored by public
officials, dancing masters, or citizens' groups and provided an
opportunity for several layers of society to meet and mingle.
