AURETTI'S DUTCH SKIPPER
This dance commemorates Anne Auretti, a
French ballerina in Garrick's company whose
themes were popular with midcentury London audiences.
She made her debut at Covent
Garden in 1742 and often appeared in character dances and
in national dances of several countries. Several other country dances and a
minuet named for her appear in London-printed collections,
